The principal of Parent Participation in Special Education

As a parent of a special needs child, you know that parents are required by law to shoulder a great deal of the responsibility for their child's education. They must make decisions that will determine whether or not their child is admitted to special education and, if so, what education they will receive. Parents must be informed about the law and the rights it gives them. If not, they and their child risk losing their rights.

This is a huge responsibility. My firm, Equal Chance Education Consulting, LLC, in Shawnee, Kansas is dedicated to helping parents of special needs children get the best education possible for their child. I know how hard you work for your child. My goal is to take some of that burden away while ensuring your child receives an equal chance.

I relieve parents of the burden of advocacy

A great deal of the responsibility for the child's education is placed on the parents. However, the parents often have difficulty communicating with their child's school either because the school does not share information freely or because they are too upset to communicate effectively. When parents reach an impasse with their child's school, they call me to facilitate communication. I know how to get everybody focused on the issues, in part by taking on the burden of advocating for their child. This allows parents to be parents.
